Eleanor Stambaugh, 95

Eleanor Churchill Stambaugh, 95, died peacefully on Monday afternoon at the Brethren Village.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Thomas and Nellie Churchill, she graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor of Arts in History.

Eleanor worked in the accounting department of R.H. Macy & Co in New York for 16 years. She later enjoyed traveling the world with her loving husband, David C. Stambaugh, who preceded her in death in 1976.

She was a member of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Eleanor also was a volunteer with the Brethren Village Auxiliary, and she took great pleasure in playing golf with her family and with the Ladies 9 hole Group at the Lancaster Country Club.

Survivors include her son, David, and her granddaughter, Allison, who reside in Los Angeles, California; her stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Miriam and Alton Kealey, and her stepgrandson Kenneth Kealey of Southern California.  She will be greatly missed.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster PA, on Saturday May 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the Chapel, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.
