Earl R. Stone, 84
Earl R. "Stoney" Stone , 84, of 20 Hedgewood Ave., Ronks, died Tuesday morning, June 27, 2006, at his home.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Earl K. and Elva B. Overly Stone. Earl was the husband of the late Lillian Mancuso Stone who died May 12, 2005.
Mr. Stone served in the U.S. Army during the World War II and the Korean Conflict, where he was an X-ray technician. He served in the National Guard and was a member of the CCC during the depression.
He was the swimming pool manager of Days Inn on Keller Ave in Lancaster, formerly the Host Town, for 46 years. Swimming and teaching swimming to many different generations was his vocation in life. He was given an award by the National Association for Retarded Citizens in March, 1978 and received the Red Rose Award from the City of Lancaster for his work with retarded citizens. Mr. Stone was an actor in the local community theater for Actors Company, Kiwanis Club Productions, and others.
Surviving are two daughters: Phyllis J. wife of Scott G. Drackley of Ronks, Dianne M. wife of Jason A. Fussaro of Ronks, three grandchildren: Christopher Drackley, Peter Drackley, Giana Fussaro. A brother: Robert L. Stone of Lancaster, and a sister, Vivian C. wife of Robert Herbert of Neptune, N.J. He was preceded in death by a brother Richard P. Stone
Services will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA, on Friday at 10:00AM. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster. Friends may pay their respects to the family at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00-10:00 AM.
