Doug Slusser

Doug Slusser of Lititz, PA passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 in the comfort of his home. He was the husband of Barbara (Taylor) Slusser to whom he was married for 51 years.

Born in Bluefield, WV he was a son of the late Mark F. and Helen (Pommer) Slusser. Doug grew up near Pittsburgh, and earned his degree in business from VA Tech. He worked as a banker in Pittsburgh, Philipsburg, and Greensburg, PA.

Doug enjoyed fishing, outdoor activities, helping people, and was never shy to lend a hand or lead a project. He was an Eagle Scout, member of various service clubs, and enjoyed travelling – including 5 mission trips to Africa. Doug most recently attended The Worship Center in Lancaster, PA.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons James Slusser (wife Karen) of Palmyra, PA and Jon Slusser (wife Kimberly) of Lancaster, PA; one daughter Holly Sperlich (husband Karl Sperlich) of Callahan, FL; one brother Ronald Slusser (wife Jane) of McLane, VA; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on January 22, 2016 from 5:30-6:30 PM at the Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. Memorial Services will be immediately following. Interment will be held privately.

Dear Barb and Children, I offer my deepest sympathy to all of you on the passing of your beloved husband, father and grandfather Doug. I have many fond memories of conversation that occurred in my office by both Doug and you Barb. For sure when your husband spoke you always knew exactly where he stood. His honesty and awareness was respected He waas a sincere and kind man.
