Doris M. (Duda) Hawke, 84, of Lancaster, PA passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Masonic Village. She was the loving wife of George C. Hawke with whom she was married to for 60 years.
Born in Hazleton, PA she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Helen (Fritz) Duda. Doris was a 1949 graduate of Hazleton High School and worked as a switchboard operator with Bell Telephone and was also a homemaker. She was a beautiful soprano singer, spoke English, French, German and Spanish. Doris enjoyed the theatre, reading and needlework and was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband George, she is survived by her children Dr. Donna M. wife of Peter Webster of Furlong, PA; James C. Hawke of Lancaster, PA and three grandchildren Alexa, Emma and Evan Angotti. Doris was preceded in death by her brother Joseph R. Duda, Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11AM from St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster, PA 17601 with Fr. Daniel Powell as celebrant. Interment will be held at the convenience of her family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. A visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass from 10-11AM at the Church.
