Dolores Reilly, 86

December 23, 2016

Dolores Reilly, 86, of Lancaster passed away December 23, 2016 at Brethren Village. Hospice & Community Care helped to provide a peaceful passing.

Born and raised in New York City, she raised her own family in Paoli, PA and settled in Lancaster after her husband passed 23 years ago. She never lost her New York accent and loved to reminisce about her New York Days including Macy’s Day Parades, New Year’s Eves in Times Square, Jones Beach and working at MetLife in Manhattan.

A homemaker most of her life, she loved home decorating projects, quilting, crocheting, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and sharing her talents with her children and grandchildren. Whether on beach vacations in Stone Harbor or in her own home, Dolores valued spending time with her family above all else.

She will lovingly be remembered by her five children (Patricia Fosbenner of Chester Springs, PA, Kevin Reilly of Highlands Ranch, CO, Maureen Hepp of Ephrata, PA, Timothy Reilly of West Chester, PA, Kathleen Landis of Lancaster, PA) and 12 grandchildren, all of whom she was deeply proud.

Dolores was a member of Saint John Neumann Catholic Church, where she devoted many hours sharing her craft and sewing talents to benefit her church. She was a member of the Saint John Neumann Christmas craft bazaar committee for 20 years and also served on the funeral luncheon committee.

Friends will be received by her family on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 9:30-10:30AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA with the Mass to follow at 10:30AM. All are welcome to attend a funeral luncheon in the social hall after mass. Interment at 1:30PM at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Dolores’ memory to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604- 4125 www.hospiceconnect.org/give .

Condolences to the Family

January 19, 2017

Dear Reilly Family, I have such fond memories of Mrs. Reilly at the Virginia Avenue House.  Kathleen was my very best friend and we played at her house quite often.  I remember making cupcakes there one day with blue icing and we made quite a mess.  Mrs. Reilly just giggled and smiled when she saw what we had done and she even said that the cupcakes tasted good.  I always loved visiting their house and I felt very much a part of their family.  I often think about the good old days and have wondered about Patty, Kevin, Maureen, Timmy and Kathleen.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.  Blessings to you all.
With Love, Carol Lynn Claypoole from Virginia Avenue in Paoli

My condolences to the Reilly family. Mother grandmother. My prayers  and thoughts go out to you. It is hard to lose a parent. I lost my mother 6 years ago to the ravages of Alzheimer’s. If it wasn’t for the support of family, friends and church I would not had gotten through.Planning ones on passing is just as hard as what you are leaving behind. I have come to terms with this. I only hope I have left good memories for my daughters to have to look back upon in future years. My daughters Molly and Ellyn and me have built a strong bond that only has gotten stronger with each new crisis. My Dad and myself have done the same.

Dear Pat: Barbara and I were saddened to hear of the loss of your mother. Although we did not know you mom at all we recognize from the comments that Al has made just how difficult this loss must be for you. It is our hope– and it has been our experience– that with such a loss comes the grace and wisdom associated with deepening that which matters most in life, namely, the relationships we build and the strength drawn from the lingering memories of such lasting relationships.
We wish you and your brothers and sisters an enduring closeness as you bring closure to the life of your mother. Our thoughts will be with you on the 21st.
Daniel & Barbara
