June 18, 2016

Demaris A. “Demy” Archibald, 75, of East Petersburg, died at home following a lengthy illness, on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Born in Scranton, Demy was the daughter of the late P. Raymond and Iva Jane (Klipple) Bartholme. She was the loving wife of Warren M. Archibald, to whom she had been married for 52 years.

She went on to Penn State where she served as treasurer of the Delta Zeta Sorority and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. Demy worked as a teacher of Home Economics until her retirement from Columbia High School.
She was a member of the Future Homemakers of America where she served as both the local and state president. Demy was also a leader in the 4-H Clubs in various Pennsylvania counties.
Demy was active in the Trinity United Church of Christ, East Petersburg, where she was a member for over 42 years and sang in the church choir. Demy enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, traveling and reading; but more than anything else, she loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Demy is survived by her three sons: Paul Archibald, husband of Susan, of Wayne; James Archibald, husband of Carrie, of Whitefish, MT; and Steven Archibald, of East Petersburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Zachary, Ethan, Justin, Sydney, and Megan; two brothers: Neil Bartholme, husband of Carol, of Newton, PA and James Bartholme, also of Newton; and a brother-in-law, William Archibald, husband of Beverly, of North Port, FL. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family across America.
Funeral services for Demy will be held at 11AM, on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 2340 State St., East Petersburg, PA 17520. Condolences to the Family

June 26, 2016

I only had limited exposure to Demy (as mother to a good friend, her son Jim), but what I did experience, was a super lady. So sorry for your loss of such a great person. May peace be with all the remaining family, as Demy is now brightening a better place.
Tim Lacey
