David W. Schrott, Sr., 61

September 03, 2016

David W. Schrott, Sr., 61, of Quarryville passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 surrounded by his loving children. Born in Johnstown, PA he was the son of the late Francis K. Schrott and the late Ann (Ramach) Schrott.

He is survived by his five children, David W. Schrott, Jr., husband of EJ of Millersville, Anna M. Metzler wife of Jordan of Strasburg, Lydia K. Walter wife of Jeremy of Lampeter, Seth F. Schrott husband of Brittany of East Petersburg and Sarah F. Keller wife of Dr. Nathan. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Adrianna, Von, Jordy, Benjamin, Preston, Calista, Evelyn, Stella; one brother Matthew Schrott, two sisters, Frances Figard, Catherine Begazo, aunt LaVerne Schrott and his former wife and continued friend Valerie Schrott.

David was an extremely generous individual who gave himself fully to his children, beloved grandchildren and his favorite little friend, his dog, Parker. All of his children were involved in various levels of athletics and he almost never missed a game, even if it meant driving through the night to see a field hockey game in Indiana or Iowa. He had an enthusiastic love for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Harley Davidson and all things gardening. Having spent the early part of his career as a Ford Mechanic and a steel worker for Bethlehem Steel, he was incredibly industrious and handy; he could fix anything. Not only was he generous with his time, but he was generous with his knowledge. He loved to help fix things and took great pride in being able to teach others the same valuable skill. After moving from Johnstown to Lancaster in 1985, he was a self-employed drywaller who took incredible pride in doing a thorough and quality job.

Funeral Services will be held at 2PM on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. To Dave’s children, may God bless you all. I am extremely saddened by Daves passing. He was a good friend, and although I have not seen him or spoken to him in nearly 30 yrs. I am as sad as if I just spoken to him. It was a great pleasure when Facebook came along and we’re able to go over old times. He will be greatly missed by many people. Mike Robson

Lydia and family,
So sorry for your loss. No one could have supported IU Field Hockey any more than your Dad.  After a few of the “big wins” over the years I believe he could have floated back to PA from being so excited. It was an honor to know him!
You are in my thoughts and prayers,
Joe O’Connell

David, Anna, Lydia, Seth, and Sarah,
I was saddened to hear of the loss of your father.  I can remember so many happy times all those summers at the Nickel Mines Swim Club where he would love to swim after work.  I have always been very fond of the Schrott clan and can remember many summer sleepovers at your family home.  Your parents always welcomed me with open arms.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Sincerely, Megan (Baughman) Henderson
