David Alan Melville, 51

September 14, 2014

David Alan Melville, 51, of Lititz, PA, ended his earthly journey suddenly on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Born August 12, 1963, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Dave was the beloved son of the late Ralph and Daveena Melville. He was the husband of Andrea(Cousineau)Melville and is also survived by his daughter Toria Elizabeth who carries on their passion for the Philadelphia Flyers. He is also survived by his brother like no other Scott Melville of Lancaster and his sister Ann Conway(Ed) and fellow Phillies and football fans, his nephews Grant and Ross Conway, of Landisville, PA. Dave will also be missed by loving extended family and loyal friends and neighbors. He was continually navigating the path of his Christian spiritual journey which included Grandview United Methodist Church where he began his Christian life and LCBC where until recently, he was involved with the Kid Ministry.

Although he spent most of his childhood in Lancaster County, graduating from Manheim Township High School in 1981, Dave also saw a lot of the world, first through his six years in the Navy and later through contract work at Naval bases around the world. His IT career necessitated moves to Clayton, NJ, Lewis Center, OH, and finally back to Lancaster, PA, with all residences having the common element of a perfectly manicured lawn that Dave tirelessly maintained.
Dave was very patriotic and had pride in the American flag as a symbol of national independence and individual liberty, ideals he strived for in his own life. His other passions included the Phillies and Flyers, keeping his red Mustang in mint condition, and continuing to root for the New York Jets even when it was an exercise in futility.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz,PA at 4 p.m. Visitors will be received at the Funeral Home for 1 hour before the service.
PLEASE OMIT FLOWERS. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warriors Project, Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675.

Condolences to the Family

It’s taken me a while to come to grips of knowing David has passed. I am still in great disbelief and wish David’s family the best in this sad time of loss. There are no words that can take away the pain and sadness but only to memorialize his life and contributions. I’m sure we will meet again David. God loves you.

Toria’s father was a great person and a wonderful role model for others. Although I did not know him too well as I am friends with his daughter, she constantly told me great things about him. Of the few times I did talk to him, I immediately noticed how humble and nonjudgemental he was. May his loved ones take heart in knowing that he is looking down at them and that they will meet again. Prayers for the family going through this difficult time.

Dave was the first peron i met , who received me and showed around when joining for work at EDC with Unisys. Knowing him was great blessing , his humbleness used to speak for him. I am greatly saddened by his departure from this world – he will be remembered as a nice person who made everyone feel welcome. Our prayers to the Melville family , may God grant peace in your hearts as you go through this pain.We shall surely meet him on the other shore.
God Bless

Dave was my manager at Bankone, he was a very kind person and that made him a great person to work for. I was sad when he left and even more so now. We live on in the memories of the people we touch and he will live on in mine.

Dave was a great friend. I can’t believe he has passed. He was always cheerful and willing to help anyone. He and I stayed close even after he moved away from Ohio. He and his wife used to organize a big dinner once a month for the homeless downtown and he and I and a few others would get together, help prepare and then go down and serve. He had a servant heart. You will be MISSED Dave.

Firstly, My deepest condolences to his family.
My name is Francisco Lara and I had the great opportunity to work with Dave during my first time around at the Enterprise Data Center (EDC) from 2010 until mid 2013.  Dave was one of the first people that I HAD to get to know when I got here because he held the KEYS for the access that I would eventually need.  He helped make those first few days a little easier with his cool and calm demeanor.  It’s been mentioned below, but it bears repeating, Dave always had a smile on his face and in his voice.
To say that I was shocked and saddened upon hearing about his passing is an understatement.  Dave was a great guy here at work and I am sure that anyone that met him would say the same.

Dave was a TRUE Christian…Non-judgemental in EVERY way.  He was such a great mentor in the Wheelhouse at LCBC.  He was always there to help out when I needed help on Sundays.  I will miss you Dave.  I will NEVER forget what you told me the first night that we met.  God loves you brother.  We will see each other again!!!!

Dave was my manager on the state contract for Unisys for 3 years. He was a friend and a mentor and you could always depend on him to make correct and fair decisions and then follow through with them in a calm and thoughtful way. I will miss him so much and the world seems a lesser place without him in it. My condolences to his family, you were so lucky to have this wonderful person in you life, if only for a brief time.

Melville family,

My name is Earl Gable. I was a coworker and am a fellow LCBC goer. I only got to know Dave for a brief time when I came to work at the Commonwealth of PA. But that was long enough to know his heart and that he was great man. Dave served my daughter in WheelHouse at church and would always ask “How’s Olivia doing?” when we would cross paths. That always made me smile. I will continue to look out to the far corner of the parking lot at the EDC for that bright red shiny Mustang and smile, knowing that Dave is walking hand in hand with Jesus now. My sympathies and prayer are with your family.

May God bless you and keep you!
Your brother in Christ,
Earl Gable
