Dear Carol,
Please accept my most sincere condolences. Although it is many years now since I last saw you and Dan (raising children and sheep in Atglen), the news of his passing couldn’t be more stunning or saddening. It was during the General Battery years that he and I met and formed a strong friendship. He taught me to be a better bridge player and a better person. I always admired his generosity and human warmth and found it to be contagious.  I have retired to full-time grandparenting and bird watching in California now, but will always consider Dan to be in the core of my friendships.
Warmest thoughts and wishes,
Jim Meikrantz
