Chuck Moore helped to save my life. Early in the evening of February 10, 2000 on my way home from work in Harrisburg, I collapsed on the sidewalk in front of the Lancaster train station, stricken by a heart blockage.  My heart stopped completely.  I am told that while other passers-by called for emergency medical help, Mr. Moore administered chest compressions to keep the blood flowing to my brain. Mr. Moore was joined at some point by a volunteer fire fighter (Ron Comfort) and then a bit later by two Lancaster police officers (Hersheiser and Mowrer) who used a defibrillator to re-start my heart.  An ambulance arrived to take me to Lancaster Regional Hospital where a cardiologist inserted a stent.   I experienced a full recovery and have been able to carry on my life.  I attribute my lack of brain damage to Mr. Moore’s chest compressions.
Later in the spring of 2000, I had coffee with Mr. Moore and thanked him for his help. As I recall that conversation, he was happy to hear of my recovery.  He described himself as a photographer.
I thank God for Chuck Moore!
