Carlton E. Roland, 91

Carlton E. Roland, 91, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Brethren Village Retirement Community. Born in Hershey, PA, he was the son of the late Basil M. and Amy L. (Eckert) Roland. Carlton was the husband of Julia (Shank) Roland with whom he celebrated 69 years of marriage. He loved spending time with his wife as they were both very devoted to each other. They had a 25 years running game of “Gin” each morning after breakfast.
A WWII Veteran, he served in the United States Army within air force communications. He was a member of the American Legion Post#34. Carlton was the owner and president of Rollie’s Refreshments, Inc. He was a former member of the Conestoga Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf for many years, Couples Club and Trinity Lutheran Church of Lancaster. Carlton was a member of the Elks Lodge#134 and participated in the Elks Bowling League. He was an avid card player and enjoyed Bridge and Pinochle.
In addition to his wife, Julia, Carlton is survived by a daughter, Audrey Koller, wife of the late Kenneth M. Koller; a granddaughter, Allison Koller, wife of Miguel Antunes; a brother, Charles Roland, husband of Patti; and a sister, Doris Winters, wife of Bruce.
Carlton was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Lee Roland; three brothers, Basil Roland, Arthur Roland and Luther Roland; and a sister Ellen Roush.
