Carl H. Sinz, 80
Carl H. Sinz, 80, of Rothsville passed away at 5:20 AM August 18, 2007 at Lancaster General Hospital from a massive inter cranial bleeding stroke suffered three days earlier. Born in Lititz on Nov 15, 1926, he was the son of the late Frank X. and Elisabeth Schmucker Sinz. Carl was the loving husband of Joan Reichenbach Sinz for 52 years.
He was a 1944 graduate of the old Lititz High School. He served in the U.S. Navy, where he was a signalman aboard the LST Ships. Carl was a building contractor and land developer whose career spanned almost 60 years, beginning with a partnership with his father.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, a member of PA Chapter LST Association, the Knights of Columbus, Lancaster Council # 867 and a Fourth Degree Knight of the Santa Maria Assembly # 0915.
Carl enjoyed studying the Civil War, world history, working on his rose garden and on his detailed observations of nature and the changing seasons. Until his sudden stroke, he was working and leading a full active life. He especially loved spending time with his beloved wife, their children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Caroline Louise married to Jeffrey Schompert of Lancaster, Dr. Carla Elisabeth Sinz married to David B. Driscoll of New York City and three sons; Carl H. Sinz Jr. of Carbondale, Ill., Christopher D. Sinz of Gaffney, S.C. and Frank X. Sinz, married to Joni Moss Sinz of Conestoga, PA. Carl has eight grandsons and one granddaughter; Crisser, Joseph, Paul, Christopher, Chase, Adam, Zachary, Brad and Molly. He has a sister, Elsie; two nieces; and two nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Neo-Trauma unit at Lancaster General Hospital for their loving care and exceptional support.
A Funeral will be held at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange Street , Lancaster, Pa on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 11:00AM with the Rev. Daniel Mitzel as celebrant. There will be a viewing at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Following the graveside service at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, a reception will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Carl’s memory to St. Anthony’s Organ Restoration Fund. Arrangements by the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home.
