Condolences to the Family

October 14, 2013

I am very sorry to learn of Brian’s passing.  I was a colleague of Brian’s in Minnesota where we co-wrote many chapters and scientific articles together when he was a professor at the University of Minnesota and I was the Chief Psychologist at the St. Paul Insurance Companies.  We used to hold our meetings at a ball park near his academic office as he watched a favorite baseball team.  A great mind, a great scientist, and a great person!  Regards – John Jones, Ph.D.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss. I knew Brian from The Tinder Box. We spent many an hour discussing a host of topics including politics, sports and family. He was so very proud of and often discussed the goings on in the life of his son Ian. Whether Ian ends up as far north as Boston, as far south as FSU or stayed local he proudly supported the possibilities. Brian will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Dear Brigette and Ian,

I am so sorry that Brian has passed and have you in my thoughts. Brian was a friend from the Tinderbox. He was witty and funny and a great conversationalist. When you went into the Tinderbox you were glad if Brian was there and I was always happy to see him.

Ian, your Dad and I often spoke of your (and his!) hunt for a college. He was really into it and proud of how you had done at LCHS. He’s the one who told me about College Confidential to help with my daughter’s own school search.

He will be missed by his friends at the "box". Many of us have spoken today. We are saddened by his passing but will smile at the memory of him.

Sincere regrets,

Fran Ciarlante

Dear Brigitte,

I was so sorry to read in the newspaper about the death of your husband Brian. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you, Ian, and your extended family at this difficult time of grief and loss.

With Love, Ethel Shank

I took a class taught by Professor Steffy while I was a student at Millersville University in 2004.  He was a wonderful teacher, and his kindness and energy as a person was always apparent.  I was in an accident that semester that caused me to miss a considerable amount of class time, and without his generosity and understanding, would most likely have not made it through the semester.  I am sorry for your loss, he was a great teacher and individual.
