Bernard “Skip” Gillespie, 69

Bernard “Skip” Gillespie, 69, of Nottingham, PA died on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Manor Care, Lancaster, after a long and difficult illness. He was born in Upland PA, son of the late Edward Gillespie and Isabelle Sorgini. He was the husband of Joanne H. Gillespie for forty years. Joanne recently died on November 13th of this year.

Skip was a retired teacher of Industrial Arts at Upper Darby High School. He previously worked as a manager for Nilon and Kiss food services and was a realtor for Beiler and Campbell in Oxford.

Skip was a graduate of Eddystone High School 1957, and New Mexico Highlands University with a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in Industrial Arts from West Chester University. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.

He was a former football coach at Upper Darby High school and was a member of the Delaware County High school Football Coaches Association. He played Varsity football for Eddystone High School and New Mexico Highlands University. He also played with the Marcus Hook AA and Tinicum AA Football Associations and the Ridley Township Knights Football Club.

He is survived by his son, Thomas R. Gillespie, of Nottingham PA; his daughter, Bridget, wife of Eric Bieber; and grandsons: Christopher and Adam, of Lancaster PA; two brothers Jack Cregan, of NJ and Ed Gillespie of Maryland. He had numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Chick Cregan. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Charles F. He was an ever pleasant and inspiring person who was looked up to and respected by his numerous fraternity brothers.
