Amanda “Dada” Rodgers, 30

May 18, 2015

Amanda “Dada” Rodgers, 30, of Mechanicsburg, died unexpectedly in Mifflinville on Monday, May 18, 2015. She was born in Bryn Mawr, the daughter of Edward T. and Jacque (George) Rodgers of East Earl.

A 2002 graduate of Pequea Valley High School, Amanda earned her Bachelors in Psychology from Millersville University in 2007. She was a social worker case manager for visually and hearing impaired adults with Schazenbach Consulting in Dillsburg. Amanda had a gift for working with autistic children and children always gravitated towards her.

Affectionately known as “Dada”, she loved to laugh with her beautiful smile that radiated joy. Amanda loved others and always put them first, regardless of the situation. She was smart, witty, no-nonsense with strong convictions and not afraid to share them. Amanda loved music, dancing and the outdoors.

Amanda is survived by her parents Ed and Jacque of East Earl; her sister Nicole, wife of Jeffrey Rueckel of Lititz and her brother Joshua E. Rodgers of New York City; nieces Alyssa Bruno, Molly Rueckel and Jenna Rueckel, step-nephew Christopher Rueckel and step-niece Hannah Rueckel, all of Lititz; her soulmate Nicholas Jordan of Mechanicsburg, best friend Becky Strayer of York and countless other friends.

Amanda’s family will receive friends on Friday, May 22, 2015, from 10 to 11 am, followed by the 11 am memorial service, with Rev. Keith Rohrer officiating, at Lancaster Evangelical Free Church, 419 Pierson Road, Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will be private. I just found out that a someone who I thought the world of and who I had the pleasure of working with has past.  If you notice this picture of Amanda, that huge smile, was everyday I knew her.  I am so lost on finding this out that I don’t know what to say.  She was a “great” person and I am blessed to have known her. There are truly not to many people that have come into my life that was just so full of life and who enjoyed working with all kids, she had this way of calm with kids. We worked together for a summer camp two years in a row, and there were many times when Amanda was there to just keep focused and when I was down she had a way of making the world look better.  It was that smile and sense of humor.  I was just thinking about her last week and wanted to reach out to see if things were going ok.  I feel so lost that I didn’t.  If there’s one thing for sure, if there’s angels in heaven Amanda is leading the group and making them smile as she did for me here on earth.  This is a very sad day for me. My prayers to her family and friends.  This is so surreal…..  Charles Stuart

Amanda was a true friend and beautiful soul. She helped make college and life afterwards a celebration.  She cared for us and made sure all was right.  Her inquisitive, outspoken, selfless, charming, loving sprit will live in the hearts of the countless she touched.  She is in every sunrise and budding flower.
My condolences,

Dear Rogers Family,
We never actually met Amanda however I have seen pictures of her and her freinds (Millersville freshman year).  My son Josh attended Millersville for only that one freshman year and transferred.  Amanda and those freinds are an important piece of who my son is today and we know Amanda played an important role in that memory.   Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Amanda… From the day I met you, you had a smile on your face.  You lived life, and loved the people around you.  I am going to miss hearing you say “hey man what’s up!?”.  I’m really going to miss having you around, as little Keller gets older… I’m sure you would have no trouble keeping him in line.. Lord knows you kept all these other  kids in line :).

Thanks for the memories.

oh, Amanda, you will be missed by so many family and friends.  You always had a smile and were a joy to be around as evident by all the photos posted on fb, you always had a radiant smile and when you met Nick, in all the photos, he had a handsome smile, you two were meant for each other.  Though you only had 4 years, I’m happy that you both got to share life together for those 4 years.  Your love for children is so evident when you see photos with you and children and their love for you is seen in the photos.

You out will always be in our hearts
Love John and Linda Knittle (Becky’s parents)
