Albert E. Filling, Sr., 77
Albert E. Filling, Sr., 77, 1564 Temple Ave., Lancaster, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday morning.
He was married to the late Clare L. (Goggin) Filling, who died in April of 2004. Born in Millersville, PA, he was the son of the late Frank F. and Kathryne (Taylor) Filling.
Albert was a partner in his family’s business, Filling’s Cleaners, Inc. He was also the owner of Filling’s Uniform, Inc. He was a life member of the Millersville VFW Post 7294, and a former officer and past president of the Pennsylvania Dry Cleaner’s Association. He was also a former member of the Free and Accepted Masons, and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. Albert was of the Lutheran faith. He was very active in the Mountville Youth Football league, participating as a coach and also their youth Midget Baseball league as an umpire.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and spending time with his family.
Albert is survived by two daughters; Kathryne A. Warwood, wife of Craig W., Millersville; and Jan L. Helm, wife of Ronald M., Lancaster; two sons; Albert E. “Butch” Filling Jr., husband of Susan of Neelyton, PA; and Brian G. Filling, husband of Lisa, Mountville; nine grandchildren; and two great grandsons. He is also survived by four brothers, Frank F. Filling Jr., Lancaster; J. William Filling, husband of Kitty, Millersville; Richard R. Filling, husband of Barbara, Lititz; James C. Filling, husband of Linda, Lititz and two sisters; Mary F. Klemmer of Mountville and Kay L. Straley, wife of Ronald, Strasburg. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Echterling.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA. Friends may pay their respects to the family at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park.
