Alan Paul Danz

February 20, 2015

Alan Paul Danz, formerly of Paris France, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Alan is survived by his wife Marina Bermon Danz, of Paris, France, his father, Richard L. Danz, his mother Lorraine L. Danz, his step-mother Loretta J. Delaney of Lancaster, PA, his brother Peter M. Danz of Philadelphia, PA, his two step-brothers Paul B. Robb and Daniel P. Robb of Richmond, VA, his step-sister Katherine D. Carr of Front Royal, VA, his step-sister Susan L. Robb of Arlington, VA, his niece Astrid E. Danz of Philadelphia, PA and his three nephews Kyle A., Zachary J. and Liam M. Carr of Front Royal, VA, and a wonderful extended family.

Alan was a freelance photographer who traveled throughout Europe nurturing his passion for photography and capturing on film the beauty and intrigue of Europe. From a medieval cobblestone street in Sainte Enimie to a castle nestled away in the mystical forest of Brocéliande, he captured the wonders of the old continent.

During Alan’s short life on earth he made a favorable impression on everyone he met. He was known for his soft-spoken kindness, his integrity, and his unassuming nature. He will be sorely missed by everyone whose life he touched.

The family gathered for a private memorial at Alan’s home in Lancaster, PA., with a simultaneous gathering of his friends in Paris, France.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike, Mt. Joy, PA.

I met Alan also at the silver diner in Virginia. I ended up going to Philadelphia with him and attending The Restaurant School with him as well and then we were roommates for awhile up there. I spent many late nights with him drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes at random coffee shops and diners just talking about life. I always felt safe with him in Philly. He just had a certain demeanor and calm about him. I’m really saddened and sorry to read about Alan’s passing. My deepest condolences to Marina and his family.

I just searched for Alan today, and found that he has passed on…I was a friend from high school.
I was new as a senior, graduating year of 92.  I moved in, and knew no one.  Was a little different than the norm, and Alan and I were drawn to each other.  There were few people at Potomac who saw me for the person I am, and I loved that he did, and he appreciated that person.  He was always the sweetest, gentleset person.  I had little time with Alan, maybe a year at most, but he stays in my heart.   I think about him regularly, and his sweet smile…and appreciate fully the completeness he gave to my life as I knew him.  .  His depth and understanding, he would  he was one of the few who actuallly encouraged me to always be myself, which to this day I appreciate.
He will always have a little piece of me, and I of him…I hope you don’t mind sharing his wonderful memory…

This is shocking and deeply saddening news. I met Alan at the Silver Diner in Woodbridge, VA. He was the first really cool boyfriend I had. He set the bar. At 18 he had more integrity than many older people I’ve met since. Have not been in touch with him in many years, but always remembered how kind he was to me and those around him. I consider myself lucky to have known him. My deepest sympathies to his family. He was one of the good ones. If anyone has any pics of him during those early years around the time he worked at the diner, I’d love to see them. laura.debar@gmail.com

Sincerest sympathies on your great loss Dick.  Of course I did not know your son but I did see it in the paper and cannot imagine the pain you are going through.  Sounds like he followed his dream and enjoyed his time on this earth.  Prayers and thoughts are going out to you and your family.  Best Wishes.
An old classmate, and distant cousin I am told.  My great grandmother was a Danz.
