Adam Terris Stoddart

Terry Stoddart was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the son of Mary McMurrary Stoddart and Andrew Terris Stoddart.   In 1926 his family moved to Chicago where Terry finished high school.

He graduated from the University of Maryland, where he participated in the ROTC program. He served as an officer in the US Army during World War II and continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 1953.

In 1941 Terry married Elizabeth Adele (Anne) Thompson.  Following World War II the couple settled in Baltimore where Terry worked as an engineer for Western Electric.  Terry had a number of hobbies including wood working, classical music, and automobiles.  He was a renowned photographer, who specialized in stereo photography.  His photo essays were popular with audiences in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
A life-long Christian, Terry put his hope in the Lord.  "But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.” Psalm 39:7.

The Stoddarts moved to Willow Valley Retirement Communities in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1995.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Anne Gehrmann of Somers, NY, his granddaughter Sarah Keene of Jenkintown, PA, granddaughter Jane Hooper of Roanoke, VA and his sister Euphemia Kay Newsom of Littleton, NC. He was predeceased by his sister, Anne Stoddart Browning.

A Memorial Service will be held at Johnson Auditorium, Willow Valley North on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.
