Aaron R. Groff, 82

Aaron R. Groff, 82, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family at his East Lampeter Township home on Monday, August 23, 2010. He and his wife Eva Hurst Groff would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this November. Born in Greenfield, Lancaster, he was the son of the late Clayton and Mary Rohrer Groff.

Retired from dairy farming, Aaron worked for ITT Grinnell in Columbia for 30 years. He was a member of New Danville Mennonite Church. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, gardening, bowling and was active in Friendship Force of Lancaster County and volunteered with MCC and MDS.

In addition to his wife Eva, Aaron will be lovingly missed by his 6 children, Miriam, wife of Claude Miller, Mifflintown, Lydia Beck, wife of the late Roy Beck, Lancaster, James, husband of Kathy Mahoney Groff, Strasburg, John Groff, West Palm Beach, FL, Lois, wife of Les Hershey, Kirkwood and David Groff, Adamstown; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Elsie, wife of Allen Shirk, Landis Homes, Martha, wife of Elmer Weaver, Ohio, John, husband of Louise Groff, Quarryville and Elias Groff, Holtwood; and his sister-in-law Ruth Groff, New Providence. His siblings Mary Hershey and Jacob Groff preceded Aaron in death.

A Viewing will take place Monday, August 30, 2010 from 1:30 to 3 pm, followed by the Funeral at 3 pm, both at New Danville Mennonite Church. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery, followed by a Fellowship Time. Officiating will be The Rev. Jay C. Garber of New Danville Mennonite Church and brother-in-law, The Rev. Raymond Hurst.  Please omit flowers.
