A. Betty Scheetz, 88
A. Betty Scheetz, 88, of Lancaster passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care of Lancaster, surrounded by her family. Born in Covert, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Leadora (Robinson) Rinwaldon. Betty and Howard A. Scheetz were married in the Elmira Methodist Church and celebrated 60 years of joyous, argument free marriage last October.
A veteran of WWII, she proudly served in the US Navy as a storekeeper 3rd class.
She was the salutatorian of the graduating class at Elmira High School in NY. Betty attended the Elmira Business Institute. She went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Elmira College, which was one of the oldest women’s colleges in the US. Betty worked at Norden Bombsight Manufacturer and was a secretary at Corning Glass Works in Corning, NY. She enjoyed reading mystery books, sewing, knitting, gardening, bowling, doing crossword puzzles and especially spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Robert Scheetz, husband of Bernice of Lancaster; a daughter, Karen Cooper of Lititz. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Benjamin Scheetz, Perry Scheetz, Kyle Cooper and Candice Todd, wife of Dustin.
A Graveside Service will be at 1PM on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with full Military Honors.
