Carter Nicolas Ransing came into our world at 4:04AM on June 30, 2009. But he came to us too soon and in spite of expert and compassionate care by the Doctors and Nursing Staff at Women and Babies Hospital, he could not stay with us and left this world on July 4, 2009. In his all too brief time on earth, he was cared for and loved deeply by his mother, Katy. His contentment was in her arms. As she played soft music for him, which she had done all during the pregnancy, he opened his sapphire blue eyes to see the face of the one who loved him beyond measure.

Samuel W. Rawhauser "Sam Lugar" 55, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Hospice Mt. Joy. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Samuel C. and Vera J. (Sener) Rawhauser and son-in-law of Bob and Jackie King. Sam was the husband of Sandy (King) Rawhauser with whom he celebrated 28 years of marriage in August. Sam was the lead singer and guitarist of the music group, The Sharks. He had an electric presence on stage, whose passion and honesty were clear to all who were lucky enough to experience it. He was able to make people dance and laugh and was always a true gentleman. During the last five years he was also employed by Bon Grain Cheese as a Maintenance Technician. Sam enjoyed playing softball in the Lancaster County Slow Pitch League. He played with the No More Mister Nice Guys for many years. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. Sam took great pleasure in working on crossword puzzles and leisurely golf outings with friends and family. Surviving in addition to his wife Sandy is a son Ian Rawhauser of Lancaster, and two sisters, Marcia and Maxine. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike. Interment will be at a later date. He was married to the love of his life, Maureen Rendina for 52 years. In addition to his wife, is a daughter, Sharon Murphy, of Newport Beach, CA, a son, Ron Rendina, husband of Susan, of La Canada, CA, four grandchildren, Lauren and Chelsea Murphy, and Gabriella and Allegra Rendina, and a sister, Rosemarie, wife of Frank Burrell, of NC. Victor, former President of V. L. Rendina, Inc. – General Contractors was very proud of local building accomplishments throughout Lancaster and Philadelphia including his reputation for renovating historical certified buildings. He was a member of The Frank Lloyd Wright Association, Scottsdale, and was a former member of the Manheim Township Sertoma Club, Manheim Township Lions Club, Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed playing racquetball, bocce ball, playing in his bi-weekly card group and being an avid sports fan. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War and he was part of the crew that commissioned the USS Forrestal Ship (world's first nuclear aircraft carrier). Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster, PA 17601. Charles William Reus, 83, of Berryville, Virginia, formerly of Lancaster, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 in the Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Reus was born August 24, 1925 in Lancaster, the son of William Henry and Amelia Elizabeth Tragesser Reus. He was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, Class of 1943 and graduated from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science, Class of 1950. He was a retired pharmacist with People's Drug Store. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII as a staff sergeant. He was a Tail Gunner of a B-24J Liberator. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross medal and the Air Medal. He was a member of St. Bridget's Chapel in the Field Catholic Church in Berryville and St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church in Lancaster. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0034 in Lancaster, a life member of the Mighty Eighth Air Force Historical Society, life member of the Second Air Division Association, life member of the 453rd Bombardment Group (H) Association, member of Air Force Gunner's Association, and lifetime charter member of National WWII Memorial. He married Elizabeth Jane Griffin Reus on October 17, 1964 in Lancaster. Mrs. Reus died on October 29, 1997. Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn M. Kruza, her husband, V. T. Kruza and their children, Gregory T. R. Kruza and Meredith M. R. Kruza, all of Berryville, VA; and two sisters, Marcia G. Reus of Lancaster, and Sister Jane Frances Reus of Kensington, MD. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, with Father Mark E. Weiss officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lancaster. The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday evening at the Charles F. Frank J. Rieker, 91
Frank J. Rieker, 91, of Lancaster, PA passed away on October 28, 2011 at the Altoona Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Frank A. and Florence G. (Bittner) Rieker. Born September 9, 1920 he attended St. Joseph's Elementary School on Cabbage Hill where he grew up and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1939. He also studied at Thaddeus Stevens Trade School. Frank took his technical skills to the Bendix Company in Philadelphia where he worked on aviation instruments. Entering the Army in June of 1943, Frank was eventually assigned to the 128th AAA gun battalion throughout the European Theatre of operation. During World War II, his service took him through Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, including Dachau death camp. He was a member of VFW Post # 5752 Mount Joy and the local American legion. Upon returning to United States in January of 1946, he eventually gained employment at PPG, first as a glazier and later as an estimator. Venturing out on his own, he founded Penn Glass Company in 1959. The company is now owned and operated by his sons, Jeffrey M. Rieker, husband of Nancy Rieker, of Lancaster and Michael J. Rieker, husband of Lynn Rieker, of Holtwood. Throughout Frank's life, he built several homes. Being an avid reader, Frank was always interested in technical/trade publications, investment knowledge and political writings. He thoroughly enjoyed fly fishing, especially in the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. Frank was of the Catholic faith and a longtime member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Esther M. (Fisher) in 1980, and is survived by his present wife, Jeanne F. (Driscoll) Rieker, of Lancaster. Additionally, he is survived by four sisters, Shirley Burger, of Lancaster, Betty Cetrone, of NH, Florence Stoner, of Mount Joy, and Pat Tierney, of Lancaster. He is the grandfather of Matthew Rieker, Philadelphia, Ethan Rieker, and Jonathan Rieker, of Lancaster, and Aaron Rieker, of Holtwood. Additionally, he is survived by Marsha Parke, wife of Keith Parke, Barbara and Eileen Monteith, four step grandsons, Drew and Kyle Miller, Jarred and Todd Parke, and four step great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in the Chapel of the Charles F. Mr. Risser proudly served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was in the Mediterranean, the Normandy invasion and Okinawa. He went into Tokyo Bay on the minesweeper Strive to clear mines for the U.S.S. Missouri. He spent seven years at sea, four with the Navy and three years with the Merchant Marines as an employee of Sun Oil Company. He worked for AMP, Inc. for 30 years. In addition to his wife, Mr. Risser is survived by a son, Peter Philip Risser of Duncannon; two daughters: Penny, wife of Paul Gibson, of Pearland, TX and Erica, wife of Dane Runkles of Conestoga; one brother, James Risser of Ephrata; two sisters: Harriet Keene of Millersville, and Ruth Wimble of West Chester, and a grandson, Anton Runkles. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence and Grace, and a brother, John. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 11:00 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Inc. 441 North George Street, Millersville, with Pastor Stephen Cote officiating. The service will conclude with "Amazing Grace" being played on the bagpipes. Interment will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, East Hopewell Township, York County. Military honors will take place at the graveside. A viewing will be held on Monday evening March 9, 2009, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home with Masonic services accorded by the Charles M. David W. Ritchey, 74, of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 7 , 2008 surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles L. Sr. and Helen Irene ( Harsh) Ritchey. David was the husband of Norma J. ( Leighty) Ritchey, to whom they would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on November 17th. Mr. Ritchey graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1952. He was employed by the Lancaster Newspaper Company in the Circulation Dept. for 17 years, Kirchoff Inc in Neffsville for 17 years, finally retiring from Young s Refrigeration in June of 2007. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather. All of his life David loved electronics and music. His C B handle was Super Sparkey. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 until April of 1963, when he was honorably discharged, and then went in the reserves for two years. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Surviving is his wife, two daughters, Bernadette, wife of Robert R. Heckard of Lebanon, Brenda L. Ritchey of Cape Cod, MA , numerous foster children, six granddaughters, eleven great grandchildren, three brothers, Charles L. Ritchey Jr. married to Ruth of Mount Joy, Kenneth E. Ritchey married to Arlene of Lancaster, and Glen Thomas Ritchey of Lancaster. David is preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Ann Ritchey and a brother, John W. Ritchey. Born in Tyrone, PA in 1935, Dixie graduated from Tyrone High School, then Thomas Jefferson University Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. She was married to Leon Robinson, who passed away in 1999, and is survived by her two daughters, Amy and Margaret, and a host of grandchildren. Dixie was a proud, life-long registered nurse who worked in Bucks County and most recently at Hospice of Lancaster. Catherine Naomi (Hartman) Rohrbaugh, 81, of Lititz, peacefully and joyfully went to be with her Lord on Monday January 5, surrounded by her family at the Mount Joy Hospice Center. The daughter of the late Martin M. Hartman and Mamie G. (Godfrey) Hartman, Catherine was born December 17, 1927 in Springfield Twp, York PA. She was married to Eugene G. Rohrbaugh of Glen Rock PA, in February of 1952. Together they raised six children with love and dedication. She spent countless hours caring for her family and especially enjoyed cooking and baking favorite meals for her loved ones. She also cherished annual family gatherings at Christmas and other holidays, as well as summer vacations in the Outer Banks. Catherine was preceded in death by her loving husband Eugene ("Henny"), her son Jeff, her grandson Daniel, and her great-grandson Baby George. She is survived by a daughter, Beth Bernhardt, wife of Rick; four sons: Steve, husband of Donna; Kelly; Bob, husband of Beth; and Gene, husband of Ann; daughter-in-law Lisa; twenty-four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; as well as sisters Mary Keeney, Edna Hyser, Anna Ness and Leah Marquet; and brothers Austin Hartman and Samuel Hartman. The family wants to thank Hospice of Lancaster County for their compassionate care during Catherine's final days.
