Kathy and Margy,
We were so sorry to hear of your father's passing. What a
talented and interesting man he was. It has been many years
since I have seen him , but I used to run into him occasionally
at the grocery store. He always remembered me and we would have
a nice talk. 104 years old. He certainly was not shortchanged.
Please pass our condolences on to your family.
Roger and Jo Thornton
Dear Zeigler Family:
Your Dad: 104 years old....Fantastic! Gene: an intellient,
special man; a fine neighbor on Elmwood Road. I remember
helping Margie one year to prepare 3 geese she had raised...for
a Christmas feast! I made a doll cradle which talented artist
Margie decorated with PA Dutch symbols...I still have it. I am
also now an artist painting landscapes working with acrylics
(I'm 88 1/2!). Kathy was always a fine companion for our 3
children in particular (Bill, Linda and Cynthia, then later baby
Jeffrey...they're now in their 60's!) who loved your Mother's
apron pockets filled with Mary Janes!) We took Kathy along on
short trips to help Ruth...Red Pointe, Chesapeake. A fine young
woman; thank you!
One of my poems...for you:
Solace
We go travelin' on life's highway,
enjoying as we go
all good things in nature...
birds that sing at evening,
roses fresh with dew,
deer and geese and brook trout:
all put on earth for you.
Then there's the best from heaven:
each relative and friend,
but this life as we know it
is surely not the end.
Our God gave us a purpose;
and when we pass the test,
He offers peace and comfort
and His eternal rest.
My sympathies to you and hope for peace,
Bill Bard

To the family of Gene Zeigler,
My Mother, Margie Gray, met Gene during swim class at a time in
their lives when both had experienced sadness in the loss of
spouses. Their friendship grew into a beautiful caring
relationship. I will be forever grateful for the love and
companionship they shared that gave Mother so much meaning
during her later years and for the kindness Gene bestowed on me,
her daughter. I give thanks for him and for the joy he brought
to my Mother and me; and to you, his family, for including
Mother in all of the special gatherings. She adored all of you.
My husband, a Harley motorcycle enthusiast has told may of his
biker friends about Gene's Harley days and is sure to include
the impressive riding history! My brother and I will never
forget Gene's kindness to us when our Mother died. Our wish for
each of you is to know that Gene was greatly loved and admired;
and that the memories of his life will soon bring a smile in the
remembering.
Our love,
Barbara and Jim Lawson
