Pat,
I've very sorry for your loss. Dave was an old friend and he
will be missed by many.
I've known David for most of my life. We graduated from
McCaskey together in '67 and both headed west to Indiana for
college. We were in the same fraternity at Franklin and he'd
drive me back to Lancaster for the holidays.
Dave will always be with us; in our memories of days we spent
with one another and in our hearts. For that presence I am
thankful. Dan Farmer
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Dave.
We were friends back in the '70's when we were in the Ski Patrol
at Big Valley together. I met Dave while I was working at Snow
Shed ski shop and we hit it off right away. He really loved
skiing and we shared many a good run at many ski areas together.
A few years later, I worked with him at Anderson Bakery. I
remember when we left work in a hurry to go pick up his Datsun
240Z, he didn't even know what color he was getting,as they
couldn't guarantee that back then..( he got a brown one with tan
interior). He opened many doors for me in the food industry, for
which I will be forever grateful to him. Job opportunities took
me away from Lancaster for many years. I returned a few years
ago to take care of my father, but somehow, never reconnected
with Dave.My deepest sympathies to you for the loss of a really
great fellow. God bless you
Craig Wise
Patti, Jennifer and family,
Please accept my Deepest Sympathy on the passing of David. May
the wonderful life you shared and the wonderful memories you
have bring you much comfort in the days and months ahead. To
Patti; David is still with you and always will be, watching over
you always. To Jennifer; Your Father will always be with you and
will always have that "special place" in your heart that only
Fathers can hold. There is a unique bond between Fathers and
Daughters that death cannot take away.I lost my Father 2 years
ago. The loss doesn't get any easier, time doesn't take away the
pain. You just go on with life and it's different. It is just my
Mom and I too now. You will continue to be in my thoughts and
prayers.
God Bless,
Dianne Evans Murray (formerly Quill)
Kiki Tana Manis Mom (Snow Leopard Bengal you raised)
I was deeply saddened to hear that David had
passed away so suddenly. I had enjoyed seeing him and working
with him at the monthly Orchid Judging sessions, especially
since his work schedule enabled him to attend more regularly in
the past year. His contributions will be missed.
You and your family have my deepest sympathy for you loss.
Valerie Lowe
To all the Yohn Family
My heart goes out with deepest sympathy to each of you. I am so
sorry for your loss.
Dave was one of my “best buds” from the Madison & Broad Streets
area during our junior high and high school years. Before we
started driving, he and I rode our bikes near and far in
Lancaster City and County. When we set out on a day we never
knew what adventures were in store; and there were plenty. He
was a very active guy in those years, always tinkering with some
engine or other mechanical device. Dave and I worked together
first on rockets, then go-karts, and later, our cars. I recall
with fondness how he and I worked on a 9th grade science project
when we planned for, built, and launched a good-sized
commercial-product rocket that contained a mouse in a
compartment that returned safely with a parachute. That was
Dave! The guy had tremendous ideas and passion. I will always
picture him -- hands greasy from some motor, helping out at the
old Anderson Bakery, drinking chocolate milk, playing sports,
making the biggest spashes off the diving board, listening to
music, taking a road trip, being a great friend -- being Dave.
May you take comfort in the fond memories you have of Dave,
knowing he touched many lives in a positive way throughout his
life. I’m thankful he touched mine in those early years.
With sincerest sympathy,
Chip Kauffman (McCaskey ’67)
