Jere
P. Weaver, 79, of Millersville, passed away Sunday, January 2,
2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy. He and his wife
Dorothy M. Coldren Weaver marked their 60th weeding
anniversary on November 23rd.
Born in
Lancaster, he was the son of the late Reuben H, and Sara Nissley
Weaver. Jere worked 40 years as a fire inspector at the Armstrong
World Industries Lancaster plant. A member of Saint Philip the
Apostle Catholic Church, he was previously active in the St.
Vincent DePaul Society at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Jere and
Dorothy enjoyed traveling during his retirement, having driven
across the US twice and taking several trips to Hawaii.
In addition to
his wife Dorothy, Jere's family includes 7 children, Gerald P.
Weaver, Leola, Linda M., wife of Clayton H. Gantz, Jr., Conestoga,
David A. Weaver, Conestoga, Sandra D., wife of James Robertson,
Lancaster, Ronald S., husband of Holly Shaw Weaver, Pooler, GA,
Steven D. Weaver, Lititz, and Michael P. Weaver, Millersville; 10
grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Mary Stone,
Lancaster, Helen Horst, Millersville and Maureen, wife of Lee
Schweich, East Petersburg. His brothers Vincent, Hen and James
Weaver preceded Jere in death.
A Viewing will
be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 10 to 11 AM at St.
Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike,
Lancaster, PA, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 AM,
with The Rev. Mark E. Weiss as Celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph
New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be
made in Jere's memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125,
Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
