Sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs.
Valavanes. She was always kind to me and my family. I pray for
God's love, peace, and comfort to envelope you and guide you all
through this difficult time.
Love In Christ,
Paul and Cassandra Mimidis
I am so sorry for your loss. We loved Nena so
much at church. I especially loved her kindness and jokes.
She was a wonderful person and will surely be missed. The
bazaar will not be the same without her present. May her memory
be eternal.
Sincerely,
Connie Hajioannou

My heart felt sympathy goes out to the entire
family.
Nena was so special to me in such a unique way. I always enjoyed
seeing her at Captain Gus'.
There was not a day that she would not look over at me and say "
Kenny how many times did we hear that story?" We would both
laugh.
She was of course talking about the Captain telling one of his
stories about the magic ring that can see, Wanda Jackson, or the
shadow he tripped over.
The way she always supported the Annunciation Church was another
thing I really admired. She as so devoted to making every event
the very best it could be.
I will miss hearing her stories about the great times she had
with my grand parents George and Evelyn Vlassis.
The big smile she would get when telling me about her grand
children and their wonderful accomplishments.
I will miss her deeply.
Our condolences.
Joe and Gail Lombardo
Please accept my heartfelt sympathies on the
passing of Nena, one my favorite people in the Greek community
in Lancaster. I remember her from my childhood as one of the
warmest, sweetest people I have ever known.
In sorrow,
Carol Dracoules
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Indeed,
it is a great loss for our whole church community. Nena was a
beautiful lady loved by many, many people that she touched
throughout her life. I have special memories of helping her
during recent years with the bazaar baking and preparation.
I'll never know where she got so much energy. She was
inspiring. She had a smile that would always make you feel
welcome and special. Behind the smile, you could see that
certain sparkle in her eye that told you that you shouldn't take
this lady for granted!
We will miss her so. May her memory be eternal!
Sincerely,
Robin and John Roumeliotis
We are so, so sorry to hear of Nena's
passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. She
was such a special lady and she will be greatly missed. I can
hear her saying "Hi Honey" even now as I type. It's hard to
picture the Bazaar without her.
We pray for comfort, strength and peace for your families in the
days to come.
May her memory be eternal.
With love and sympathy,
Mark, Angela, Jim and Andy Moshos
I was sad to hear about Nina's passing. I
have many fond memories of Nina, especially her unique sense of
humor and how she brightened every event she attended with her
funny stories. I loved to be on bus trips with her! She just
had a special way of spreading joy. I will keep all of you in
my prayers through this difficult time.
May her memory be eternal.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Nena,
a member of one of the finest families that I ever knew. Back
in the early 50s, my wife and I moved to West James St. in
Lancaster, across the street from the Sun Restauarant which was
owned and operated by Mike and Andy Valvanes. As I got to know
the family, I was very impressed with their kindness and
courtesy to everyone they met. In later years, Nena's brother,
Captain Gus was my next door neighbor on Wheatland Ave and Nena
and Barbara lived a block away. I got to know all of the
children and they were all just a wonderful family. I am
presently in Virginia with my Son's family for Christmas and I
am sorry to say that I will not be able to attend the services,
but I send my deepest sympathy to the family on the loss of a
very gracious and kind Lady. May God be with you and comfort
you at this difficult time. Luther L. Henry, and Family
We wish to send our sincere sympathy to all
the family.

My world is a little darker today as I hear
the news of Nena's passing. She was a glowing friendly soul who
left a warm spirit of cheer wherever she went. She will be
missed. A trip to Captain Gus' was always a bright spot in my
day. My condolences to Barbara, Gus and the whole family.

To the family of Nena,
I am so very sorry for your loss. She will missed by all
who knew her. She was a very special lady who loved life and all
she knew. She treated everyone she knew as they were a part of
her family.

We
are sorry for your loss. Although we did not know Mrs.
Valavanes, we are patients of her son-in-law, Dr. Spencer
Phillips. He spoke very highly of his mother-in-law and I know
she will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as
you walk through this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Barbara and Fred Carbaugh
I am greatly saddened at the hearing of the
message of Nena's death. She was a good friend to all she knew,
which includes myself. I know she was deeply loved by many she
touched. She had a winning smile. I saw her often at Captain
Gus's restaurant and she put a lot of time in for the Greek
Bazaar each year. You live on in memories of people like me.
Michael Brinley
Dear Spencer, Andrea and family,
I was so sad to hear about the loss of your wonderful
mom/mother-in law/grandmother. I know she was a special lady who
was a big part of your lives. You are all in my thoughts and
prayers.
Sharon Gilligan
Janet and I, along with Janika and Micaela,
wish to extend these belated condolences on the death of our
beloved "Aunt Nena."
Although this note responds to an archived notice, we hope it
will still reach the family. We had hoped to attend the 40 Day
Memorial this weekend, but are uncertain whether the trip from
our Virginia home will be possible.
Know that our thoughts have been with you throughout this period
of mourning, and that we will be saying prayers for Aunt Nena on
Sunday along with you, wherever we may be. We feel privileged
to have known her, to have enjoyed her ready smile and
infectious laugh, and particularly blessed that Janika had the
experience of working the Bazaar pastry room with her for
several years.
With much love,
The Perezous Family
