Michael
G. Thlivitis, 97, of Lancaster, passed away at home on Sunday,
June 5, 2011. Michael was born in Kallimasia, Chios, Greece. His
parents were the late George and Melpomene (Vekios) Thlivitis. He
was married for 66 years to Eleni (Stamoulis) Thlivitis.
Michael
immigrated to the United States in 1963, moving to Lancaster, PA
shortly after his arrival. He worked at RCA in the building
maintenance department until his retirement. He was a veteran of
WWII, serving in the Greek Army. He was a member of the
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Agapi Bible
Study Group. He was a member of the Kallimasiotiko Society of his
home town in Greece. Michael enjoyed playing the violin and
mandolin. He was an avid reader, gardener, and sports fan,
especially of soccer. Michael’s patience, generosity, and warm
smile will be greatly missed.
Surviving in
addition to his wife, a daughter, Melpa Mountis, wife of George
A., of Lancaster; two granddaughters, Elene Moran, wife of Sean,
and Athena Billis, wife of Nicholas; five great-grandchildren,
George, Alexandra and Christopher Moran, and Stefanos and Angeliki
Billis. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kalliopi
Stamoulis and Anthoula Argyroundis.
Funeral
Services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 10:30 AM with
Rev. Alexander Goussetis officiating at Annunciation Greek
Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603. Relatives
and friends can pay their respects to the family on Tuesday
Evening from 6-8 PM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home &
Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The Trisiagion
Service will be held at 7 PM. Interment will be at Conestoga
Memorial Park. Please omit flowers. Contributions can be made in
