Diana M. Swope 74, of York, formerly of Lancaster ascended to heaven on the wings of angels on August 18, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Lancaster City on Cabbage Hill on June 7, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Michael Rampulla and Francis (Irwin) Rampulla.

Diana graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and from Millersville University with a degree in Education. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren.  She was a school teacher and loved to see her students excel and achieve their goals. She retired from the York City School District with a total of over 35 years of teaching experience. She enjoyed working with stained glass, camping, going to the beach and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lancaster.

Surviving are two sons, Michael B. husband of Chan of York and Matthew E. Swope of NY, NY. In addition are two daughters, Melissa A. wife of Jeffery Moose of Hanover, PA and Chrissandra M. wife of Dennis Ness of York. Three sisters, Nadine McGarrity of Manheim, Linda Rampulla of Lancaster and Stephanie Kirchoff of Chambersburg, PA; 7 grandchildren: Alysha, Zachariah, Marissa, Sarah, Alex, Jacob and Hannah and 1 great-grandchild Landon. She was preceded in death by a son Donald E. Swope and a sister, Margaret Waltman.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph Street Lancaster, PA at 10AM with Msgr. Thomas H. Smith as Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery in Bausman, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Diana’s memory to the SPCA 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
