Emma C. “Sue” Rider, 84, of Leola, passed away peacefully at the Essa Flory Hospice Center, Friday, September 16, 2011, surrounded by her family. Born in Riverside, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Eric and Mary (McDaniel) Bush and the adopted daughter of the late Ralph and Emma Caroline (Woeller) Chamberlain.

Sue graduated from Palmyra High School, in Palmyra NJ, and was retired from the Lancaster Country Club. She was an avid reader and enjoyed visits from the Lancaster Book Mobile, crocheting, visits to the beach, her poodles, and treasured time spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sue was of the Catholic Faith.

Sue is survived by two daughters, Cheryl P. Graybill, wife of Stanley of New Holland, and Lisa S. Troupe, wife of Gregory P. Dean of Lancaster; a daughter-in-law, Cheri Rider, of Holland, PA; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and a sister, Loretta Kovalesky of Vorhees, NJ.

She was preceded in death by a son, A. Thomas Rider and several siblings of New Jersey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 150 N. Water St. New Holland, PA 17557 with Rev. John D. Schmalhofer. Family and friends will be received at the church before the Mass from 10 a.m.-11a.m. Interment will be private.
