(Send Condolences)

I had the pleasure of working with Joe over the last 12 years. He was a good man.  I will miss him.  My deepest condolences on your loss.

Ramiro M. Carbonell

I am thinking of Joe's family during this difficult time.  I am a shareholder at Stevens & Lee and knew Joe through my work there.  Joe was a pleasure to work with and I enjoyed any time that I had occassion to work with him on a case.  He command of the tax code and ability to translate it to those of us who are not tax attorneys was tremendous.  He was so swiftly able to field any question in his area of the law, he made us all look good when dealing with tax questions.  Joe was also a very sweet person. I was honored to know and work with him.  I know that it is difficult to have someone close pass away suddenly as my mom passed away suddenly.  It helps to hear from others who knew your loved one who have nice things to say; so I hope this short email is helpful to you during this difficult time.  Joe will be missed at Stevens & Lee and remembered by all of us who had a chance to work with him.

I was so sorry to hear of Joe's passing, and my prayers are with his family and friends.  Like many others, I knew Joe from my work with Stevens & Lee.  Being in South Carolina, I didn't have many chances to meet with Joe personally but did have opportunities to work with him from a distance.  He was always helpful, especially so with regard to some pro bono work I was doing for a charity here in South Carolina.  Joe was the consummate professional lawyer and a great guy.  I'll miss him both personally and professionally.

I knew and worked with Joe since he came to Stevens & Lee.  It was always a pleasure to work with Joe or simply spend time with him at our various firm gatherings.  I was saddened to hear of his unexpected passing and I want to express my deepest sympathy on your loss.  Please know both you and Joe are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jim Snyder

I was very saddened to hear about Joe's passing.  I was his secretary for five years.  He was a total professional and I respected him very much.  My condolences to his family.

Ann, Michael, Brad and family--

My deepest sympathies to you at this time.  Joe was among the finest lawyers and men that I have known.  No matter the task or difficulty, Joe gave 100% and cared deeply that he was providing good counsel and service to his clients and fellow lawyers.  He had a sincere respect for others.  I had the pleasure of working very closely with Joe over the last three years and I never failed to learn from him.  I also enjoyed his subtle humor and very dry wit.  He will be dearly missed.

I worked with Joe both at Barley Snyder and Stevens & Lee. Joe was a tireless worker, a brilliant lawyer, and a great friend. We all miss him. His family will remain in our prayers.

I had the pleasure of working with Joe for the last decade at Stevens & Lee.  Joe was a brilliant lawyer and an honorable and decent man. I worked with Joe on many difficult, complicated matters, and his insight, patience and good humor never wavered or waned. I will miss him deeply, both personally and professionally. My prayers are with his family.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this.  Joe was one of my favorite partners and provided invaluable insight and assistance to me in an area that was often times complex and overwhelming.  Joe always did this in a kind, professional and friendly manner, with delicate regard to the fact that there were not many that were his intellectual equal.  Joe also had a good sense of humor, which served as much needed levity in tense transactional settings.  Neither the firm nor the tax world will ever be the same without Joe.  I send my best to Joe's family.  Joe will be dearly missed.
