Harlan
T. Olson, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2011 at
Hospice of Mount Joy.
He was born on
March 12, 1927 in Bridgeport, CT to the late F. William and Ethel
(Harlan) Olson.
Harlan was the
husband of Patricia A. (Welsh) Olson for 52 years.
Harlan served
his country with the US Navy Reserve as a Seaman 1st
Class. He was a member of the American Legion Post #34
He was of the
Protestant faith.
Harlan
was a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, class of 1952. He
attended The Lawrenceville Prep School, Princeton, New Jersey.
He worked at
LTV Steel for 23 years, retiring in 1976.
He was an avid
reader, enjoyed gardening, and his hobby was woodworking.
Surviving in
addition to his wife, are his son, William N. Olson, husband of
Mary Roda, of Lancaster, two step-daughters, Karen L. Groff and
Cynthia M. Plauger, both of Lancaster, three grandchildren, Megan,
Alaina, and Erin Olson, and three step grandchildren, Heather A.
Shuman, Summer L. Shuman, Natalie K. Groff, of Lancaster, and five
step great grandchildren.
Private
Graveside Services will be held at St. Joseph New Catholic
Cemetery with nephew, The Rev. Norman Hohenwarter officiating.
Military Honors will be rendered by the Red Rose Veterans Honor
Guard and the Veterans 21 Salute Rifle Guard. In lieu of flowers
memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County
