Dorothy
E. Moody, 83, formerly of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, New
Hampshire and Pennsylvania, passed away in Brooksville, Florida on
September 7, 2011. Dottie was born in Monroe, NY to the late Fred
Lundy Moody and Louise Conklin Moody Taylor. Her stepfather was
the late Joseph Taylor.
She graduated from Barrington-Providence Bible Institute in
Rhode Island with a BA in Bible and Education; Framingham
University in Connecticut with a BS in Education, and obtained her
Masters degree of Education from the University of Connecticut.
Dottie spent her entire career as an elementary school teacher in
Connecticut. A school building at the West Hernando Christian
School in Spring Hill, FL has been named after her and will be
dedicated this October. Dottie loved to paint and do wood
sculpting. A former violinist for the Lancaster Symphony, she also
played the piano, clarinet and flute. She volunteered with the New
England Fellowship of Evangelicals, Inc. in Rumney, NH.
Dottie is survived by 3 nieces, Laura L. Martin, Dottie M.
Cottrell and Susan R. Thomas; 9 great-nieces and nephews and 3
great great-nephews and her very close friends Barbara and Philip
Esposito and Ellien Lein.
A Graveside Service will take place 9 AM Tuesday, September
13, 2011 at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover, PA, followed by her
Memorial Service at 10 AM, with The Rev. Leon G. Bird officiating,
in the Nicarry Meetinghouse of Cross Keys Village in New Oxford,
