Raymond
F. Molkenthin, Sr., 71, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at his Lancaster
home. He was married to Mary E. Rinier Molkenthin for 51 years
last February 5th. He was born in Detroit, MI, to the
late Louis E. and Edna Chila Molkenthin.
Ray attended St. Mary’s High School,
Sharpsburg, PA, and earned his diploma while serving in the US
Navy. He served active duty form 1957-1962 and then reserves from
1982-1999, retiring as a Mineman Chief Petty Officer. Ray received
the Sailor of the Year Award while in the reserves. He worked as a
service technician for the Xerox Corp for 26 years, retiring in
2002.
A devout Catholic, he was a member of
Sacred Heart of
Jesus
Catholic Church. Ray enjoyed going to yard sales, reading, dancing
and using his ham radio. He earned his Merchant Marine License. He
enjoyed the outdoors through camping, hiking, backpacking the
Adirondacks, fly fishing and traveling. Ray especially enjoyed
spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Mary
are 4 children, Raymond F., Jr. (Cynthia Crockett), Landisville,
Terry T. (Laurie Heagy), Millersville, Michelle Meck (Douglas),
Manheim and Mary F. Muise (Robert P.), Lancaster; 8 grandchildren
and 3 sisters. He was predeceased by a brother.
Mass of Christian Burial will take
place 11AM Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Sacred Heart of Jesus
Catholic Church, with The Rev. Michael E. Messner as Celebrant and
The Rev. Msgr. Thomas H. Smith as Concelebrant. A Viewing will
take place 6-8PM Wednesday at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home &
Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA. Interment in St. Joseph
New Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to
Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St.,
