Barbara R. Mills, 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Rheems Nursing Home in Elizabethtown. She was born in Wilkes-Barre to the late Talmage B. and Helen (Smawley) Rowe.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Robert S. Mills. They celebrated their 62nd anniversary on November 19th.

She graduated from Myers High School, Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1946 and Wyoming Seminary Business School, Kingston, PA and retired after 30 years with The Fulton Bank as a Customer Service Representative.

Barbara was a member of Grandview United Methodist Church.

A longtime member of Conestoga Country Club, she shared her husband’s love of golf. She was one of the founding members of the Lancaster Women’s Club and volunteered at Lancaster General Hospital. Barbara enjoyed playing bridge, reading, swimming, and family vacations to Stone Harbor, NJ and Lake Naomi in the Poconos.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Robert S. Mills, Jr., husband of Nancy, of WI, John David Mills, husband of Joyce, of Atlanta, a daughter, Susan S. Mills, of Lancaster and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Talmage Rowe.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11am at Grandview United Methodist Church 888 Pleasure Rd. Lancaster, PA 17601. Visitation with the family will be held from 10-11am at the church. Interment will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
