I met George at "Five of a Kind" hunting camp. He was the original "Chief"! He was great fun to be around and was especially tough to beat in poker. He knew my Dad, P.Walter Murray and was a good friend to the late Bob Banta. He will be missed. RIP George.

Dear Janice, Rosemary, Bob & all of George's wonderful nieces & nephews,
Bob, our children & I just loved George.  He was truly ONE of a KIND.  He & Betty were neighbors of ours for many years.  Our sons cut Uncle George's  grass when they were in High School so they too learned to enjoy this happy man.  He will truly be missed but never forgotten.  Thanks to those of you who cared so much for him---he spoke of you often.

We have a dear friend in York who died shortly after George & unfortunately his Funeral Mass is the same time as George's so we will see you at 10:00 and then leave for York. George will be in our thoughts & prayers forever.

Dear All,
I'm sorry that I could not greet you at today's visitation nor attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philip's due to conflicts. I, Bill Kopetz, was privileged to be one of the "famous" Crazy Eights at Conestoga Country Club. Now, I play out of LCC. George was, also, a long time member. We had lots of fun and, even, some spectacular golf shots. At the end of the season we would gather at a local restaurant/saloon, with spouses, for a lovely dinner. Hopefully, some of the other, above ground, Crazy Eights attended, today. With my funny last name, George would, sometimes, forget my first name. Consequently, I would become, like many others, "Hey, Chieffie!" Great memories of great fellows. I think I was the youngest member. I'll be 68 in a couple of weeks. Sad to lose wonderful friends!! Best personal regards!

I am so saddened to hear about George's passing and also that I wasn't able to attend his services. We were out of town and returned home on March 5th when I saw the notice in the paper. I always enjoyed his humor,sunny personality and the devilish smile. I loved hearing the funny stories he would tell about the fun times he had with my dad,(Harry (Butch) McKinsey and Uncle Charlie Snyder. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

As my Mother referenced earlier, I was one of the boys that cut "Uncle George's" lawn throughout high school. (Boy was that side yard a steep hill!)  To this day, I still sweep my own lawn mower of any left over grass cuttings as well as unplug the spark plug for safety before storing------just like Uncle George taught me.  (And he would sporadically check to make sure I followed his instructions.)  The memorable part of the weekly hour ritual (besides getting paid in cash)was when I was done.  He would invite me inside his air conditioned home, "Aunt Betty" would pour me a cold Coke, and he would ask me how's life?  What about school? My studies? Sports? the dating scene? and the next big questions----what college, what major, what type of career?  The fun filled and humourous converations always ended with me knowing he had an interest in seeing me be successful in life.  He was a man of great influence who I was blessed to have in my life.  May his soul rest in peace with our heavenly Father.

I am so sad.  I just found out about George.  I moved out of the area.  I worked with George at Washaw Design and kept in touch with him over the years.  He will be missed and I adored his friendship.
