Mary A. McGarrity

Mary A. McGarrity, 86, wife of the late Michael J. McGarrity, went to heaven peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 28, 2011.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  Mary is survived by her 7 children, 19 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.  She proudly worked as an LPN before enjoying her retirement at the shore.

Mass of Christian Burial from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA at 11 AM Monday, May 2, 2011.  Friends may pay their respects from 9 until 10:30 AM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA.  Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P.O. She was so sad when I saw her this past Wednesday and she placed her left hand over her heart saying how much her grief hurt her.  We still had comments to laugh about and she shared her wisdoms and insights, as always, poignantly and eloquently. I will miss my friend who always encouraged me and told me stories so moving and so vibrant! Finally resting near little Mary Ann - may her grief be lighter.
