Ruth E. Mateer, 90, formerly of Millersville, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Blue Ridge Mountain Golden Living Center in Harrisburg, PA.

She was the wife of the late Charles E. Mateer who passed away in 2003. Born in Oil City, PA, she was the daughter of the late David and Alda Gigone Benson.

Ruth had been a homemaker, and was of the Methodist faith.

She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, ceramics and playing bingo.

She is survived by her daughters: Sandra E. Mateer-Litwin, married to Robert Litwin of York Springs, PA, Donna J. married to Patrick Cowan of Mt Joy; her son Allison E. married to Katherine Mateer of Millersville; and her daughter-in-law Joyce A. Mateer of Lititz. Ruth is also survived by her 2 grandsons, both of Denver, CO, Derek M. married to Jessica and Kevin C. married to Brooke; her 2 great granddaughters Reese and Alexis, and by her sister, Jean Yount of San Antonio, TX. Ruth was preceded in death by her son Lewis  E. Mateer, her grandson Michael C. Mateer and her twin brothers, Howard and Harold Benson.

Friends will be received from 1-2PM on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA, with the funeral service to follow at 2PM with the Rev. John A. Laughlin, Sr. officiating. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park.
