William
J. Magis, 79, of Mountville, passed away on Thursday, March 10,
2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy.
He was the
husband of Grace M. Duvall Magis, with whom he celebrated 39 years
of marriage this past November 27th. Born in Sewickley,
PA, he was the son of the late Albert and Rose Kopriva Magis.
A systems
analyst by profession, William had worked for the Salt River
Project in Phoenix, AZ and previously for Motorola and the
Westinghouse Co. He was a graduate of Carnegie Tech, now
Carnegie-Mellon, with a Bachelors Degree in Business
Administration.
He loved to
travel throughout Europe, collected history books, automobile
memorabilia, and had, in years past, restored 1950s and 1960s
automobiles.
In addition to
his wife, Grace, he is survived by his children: Mark W. Magis of
San Diego, CA, Wendy J. Magis married to David Martin of
Berkeley, CA, and Pamela L. married to Perry Alexander of
Lawrence, KS; his stepchildren Jeffrey married to Anne Mummau of
Marietta, and Joseph married to Johanna Mummau of Sparks, NV. He
is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Conor, Tate, Karie, Holly,
Jason, Christian and by his 9 great grandchildren.
Friends will
be received on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 1030AM to 11AM at the
Charles F. Snyder Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike,
Lititz, PA, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM, the Rev.
Leo Neff officiating. Interment at 3PM in Chestnut Level
Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make
