Naomi
A. Lawrence, 84, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Sunday, August
8, 2011 at her residence.
She was the
wife of Nelson A. Lawrence, with whom she was married 65 years
this past November 9th. Born in Lancaster, she was the
daughter of the late Francis L. and Sarah M. Richards Keen.
Naomi had
worked as a waitress for Clark’s Diner for 5 years and for the
former Schick Corp. in Lancaster for many years. She had also
worked for many years as a hostess at the Hess Dept. Store in
Lancaster city, as well as working as a waitress at many different
restaurants in the Lancaster area.
She was a
member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, where she helped in the
nursery and with Sunday socials and
breakfasts.
Naomi loved
movies, meeting her friends at the Kmart Café, collected teddy
bears and clowns, loved chocolate ice cream and having tea, and
was a big Elvis Presley fan. She enjoyed babysitting for a number
of families.
She is
survived, in addition to her husband, by her children: Carol A.
Stigelman of Lancaster, Nelson A. II, married to Ellen Lawrence of
Lancaster, and Rebecca A. Hanna of Prescott, AZ; her 5
grandchildren, Jonathan, Christian and David Stigelman, Andrew
Lawrence, and Caitlin Hanna; her 6 great granddaughters, and by
her two sisters, Eleanor and Frances. She was preceded in death by
her sisters, Jane and Phyllis and her brother Joseph.
Friends will
be received on Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 10-11AM in the
Chapel at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 321 West Chestnut St.,
Lancaster, PA 17603, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM,
the Rev. Jennifer Looker officiating. Interment in East Harrisburg
Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Naomi’s memory to St.
