I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. YOUR FATHER WAS A
GOOD,CARING MAN.... ALWAYS HAD GREAT TIMES WHEN OUR FAMILIES
WOULD GET TOGETHER.
I REMEMBER THE WOODEN ROCKING CHAIR HE FIXED FOR ME, MATCHED THE
RUNGS PERFECTLY. I WAS ALWAYS SHOWING IT OFF. (WHAT GREAT
CRAFTSMANSHIP)
MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU,

We will miss Gene; he was a good neighbor ;
full of fun and life. Always quick with a smile and a kind word.
Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was saddened by the report of Gene's
passing. I am so glad that I stopped in to see him right before
Christmas. We thought that he was no longer at the house
shortly after since we saw no lights. I wanted to send a card
to De, but I do not know the address, so wanted the family to
know that we are thinking of them. I met Gene when my children
were small and he used to walk by with his dog, Mac, Max?. He
started out just calling me Mom since I was usually outside with
the kids. After his wife died, I started dropping in on him
once in awhile just to check on him. As he was doing better, it
was mostly around holidays that I would drop off some baked
goods. If he was out sitting on the porch in nice weather, I
would beep and he would wave. He shared some of his black
walnuts with me - and then I made black walnut cookies to share
with him. He also gave me a small wooden stool that he had
made. I will miss Gene and the twinkle in his eye when he would
ALWAYS ask - "You've lost some weight, haven't you?" It was
never true, but it always made me smile. I am hoping that the
family also have fond memories to help them through this
difficult time. It will be hard to drive by his home and not
look for him on the porch this summer. My prayers are with you
all.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Gene
shortly after we moved in a few houses down from him. He
stopped in to say hi and since then if he would see me outside,
he would stop in to have a chat. I will miss driving by in the
mornings on my way to work during the summer and see him sitting
on the porch and waving or looking out his window and waving.
RIP Gene
sincerely,
