John
M. Kast, 85, of Lancaster, PA. passed away Wednesday, January 5,
2011 at Essa Flory Hospice Center. Born in Lancaster, he was the
son of the late John H. and Marie Miller Kast. He was married to
Mary Lermer Kast for 58 years.
John was
formerly employed at Calder Doors for 34 years. He served in the
US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was a
member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a volunteer for 20
years at Regional Medical Center in Lancaster. He donated 17
gallons of blood.
Surviving
besides his wife is a son: John David Kast, New York, six sisters:
Mary, Elizabeth, Katherine, June, Joanne, Cecelia and a brother,
William.
He was
preceded in death by four brothers: Arthur, Joe, Ed, and Sam.
Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 558
W. Walnut Street, Lancaster, PA on Friday, January 7, 2011 at
11:30AM with Rev. Michael Caulkin as celebrant. Interment will
follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. A viewing
will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, from
10:30-11:30AM. Please omit flowers. Contributions may be made in
