Theodore R. "Ted" Kane

Theodore R. "Ted" Kane, 80, of Lancaster, passed away on January 6, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County at the Essa Flory Center. He was born in Ephrata and was the son of the late William and Ida Grahm Kane Angelini.

Ted was preceded in death by his wife Dolores M. Kane just over a month ago on November 30, 2010.

Ted served his country with US Army in Alaska before the start of the Korean War.

He was a machinist for Hubley Toy Inc. and then retired as a painter from the former Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital.

Ted was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister. At St. James he was active with the "Light of Christ" prayer group.

Ted was involved in numerous community groups and the local "Swing Through" square dancing group. He and Dolores shared their home to many Veterans and other members of the community needing care.

Ted will always be remembered by his daughters for teaching them how to fish and hunt for the "wiffle diffles."

He enjoyed making his own flies and fly rods for fly fishing, playing his guitar, animals, and carpentry.

Surviving are four daughters, Christine M. DiCola, of Conshohocken, Susan T., wife of Barry Kelly, of Shoemakersville, Stephanie E. Bootie, of Sydney, Australia, April P., wife of George Geus, of Lancaster, eight grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, a brother, James Kane, of Palmyra, three sisters, Darlene Hilsher, wife of Harold, of Manheim, Freida Hickey, of Lancaster, Jo Glick, wife of Terry, of Lititz, many nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and William Kane, and a step-father, Joseph Angelini.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 11am from St. James Catholic Church 505 Woodcrest Ave. Lititz, PA 17543 with The Rev. James O'Blaney as Celebrant. Viewings will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pk. Lititz, PA 17543 on Sunday from 6-8pm with the The Holy Rosary Recitation at 7:30pm and again at Snyder's on Monday from 9-10am. Final farewell and commendation will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery.
