Violet
F. Hostetter of Lancaster, passed away, at the age of 92 on
Monday, January 31, 2011 at Willow Valley Nursing Home. Born in
Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Forster
and Sabina Chihasz Forster . In March she celebrated 69 years of
marriage with her husband W. Merle Hostetter.
She was a charter member of Community United Methodist Church
where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
Violet loved gardening, sewing, cooking, artwork, and being with
her family. She was in partnership with her husband at Lancaster
Home Sales.
In addition to her husband, Violet is survived by a daughter,
Judith Rogers wife of Peter Rogers, and two sons, David Hostetter
husband of Faith Hostetter, and Bruce Hostetter husband of Pat
Hostetter , all of Lancaster, Pa. and a sister Pat Valudes wife of
Spiros Valudes.
She had eleven grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great
great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Doris Rupp and Elaine
DeMarra.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the
Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory 414 E. King St.
Lancaster 17602 at 10 a.m. Family and friends will be received at
the Funeral Home before the service from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Interment
will follow at Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Community
