Mary E. Heiney

Mary E. Heiney, 82, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at Essa Flory Hospice Center surrounded by her family on Monday, October 24, 2011.  Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Rineer) Shertzer.  Mary was the loving wife of the late Claude T. Heiney.

Mary enjoyed playing bingo, trips to Atlantic City, dining out, Sight & Sound Theater, and doing things with her family.  She especially enjoyed the cruise to Alaska with her daughter, Georgiann.  She was a member of Colemanville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters: Sandy Turner, wife of Barry, with whom Mary resided, and Lori Grove all of Lancaster; two sons: John Heiney, husband of Kate, of New Jersey and Wesley Heiney of Lancaster.  Mary was a proud grandmother (Stick Nan) of nine grandchildren: Josh, Holly, Christopher, Brandon, Shannon, Matt, Bailey, Megan and Brittany; five great-grandchildren: Haley (Sweet Pea), Sierra, Garrett, Aiden and Olivia.  She was preceded in death by four children: Phillip, Jay, George and Georgiann; five sisters: Jeannie, Bess, Shirley, Gladys and Hilda; and three brothers: Bob, Richard and Billy; and a son-in-law, Keith Grove.

Everybody who knew Mary loved her and she loved them.  Her family was the most important thing to her.  Mary would do anything for anyone because that was the kind of lady she was.  She will be truly missed by everyone who knew her and especially by her loving family. 

Family and friends are welcomed to attend a Graveside Service at 1 PM on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Colemanville United Methodist Church Cemetery, 210 Colemanville Church Road, Conestoga, PA 17516 with Pastor James Goudie officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604 or www.hospiceoflancaster.org.  To send online condolences, please visit SnyderFuneralHome.com. Lori, Sandy, John, Wesley and family,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I wish I possessed words that would be of some comfort, but I know that there are none.. all I know is something my own mother told me, which I hold to be true:
Time and God are amazing. One day, you will wake up and find that you have survived what you never thought you could possibly survive.
And when that day comes, I pray that your memories hold none of the pain you feel now. Only joy, and profound love.

Dear Lori and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. But because of you all, your mother lived a wonderful life and now she is at peace with your dad. Lori, I wanted to come and show my support at the services today, but I could only do so by using PTO and I have no more PTO available. I am sorry I could not be there. You are all in my thoughts & prayers.
