Jeanette
C. Gigl, 89, of Lancaster, died Monday, January 31, 2011 at
Hospice of Lancaster County.
Born in Lancaster, Jeanette was the
daughter of the late Lewis J. and Barbara (Wolpert) Gigl.
After her graduation from Lancaster
Catholic High School in June of 1939, Jeanette worked at the
school as the principal's secretary to 10 different principals
from 1939 until 1994, then continued to volunteer her services
until 2006.
Jeanette loved to sing. She, along
with Anne and Phyllis Cuzzuculi, formed The Savern Sisters Trio,
performing Big Band music on radio and with the USO at Fort
Indiantown Gap to entertain the troops during World War II.
Jeanette was a member of St. Mary's
Catholic Church.
Her life revolved around family,
friends, and Lancaster Catholic High School. She enjoyed spending
time with her nieces and nephews, helping them in her very
special, quiet way.
Jeanette enjoyed her last several
years as a resident at Evergreen Estates, and the friends she met
there.
Jeanette is survived by her nieces and
nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and numerous godchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
brothers, William and John Gigl, and sisters, Helen Spangler, Ruth
Schmitz, and Margaret R. Brommer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. John Neumann
Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Road., Lancaster, PA 17601 with Rev.
Msgr. Richard Youtz as Celebrant. A viewing will be held Friday
evening from 6 until 8 PM at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home &
Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The Holy Rosary
will be recited at 8 PM. Interment will take place in St.
Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Flowers will be received, or memorial
contributions may be made in Jeanette's memory to Lancaster
Catholic High School, 650 Juliette Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601. To
