Ralph
F. Frey, 89, of Willow Street, PA passed away on Sunday, September
4, 2011 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center.
He was the
husband of Rosemary L. Schulz Frey, with whom he celebrated 67
years of marriage this past December 11th. Born in
Lancaster, he was the son of the late Oscar and Anastasia Lebeck
Frey.
Ralph had
worked as a watchmaker for Hamilton Watch Inc. ,and also served as
the union president of the Hamilton Watch Workers Union, for 27
years until his retirement in 1980. He had learned watchmaking at
Bowman’s Watch in Lancaster.
Ralph was the
owner of Frey’s Christmas Tree Farm, south of Willow Street. He
enjoyed spending time in Davenport, FL and also in Cape May, NJ,
where he liked to swim and boat.
He was a
member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.
Ralph was a US
Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Augusta in the
European and Atlantic theaters as a Seaman First Class.
In addition to
his wife, Ralph is survived by his 4 children, all of Lancaster:
Barry F. married to Carol Ann Frey, Susan married to Dale Myers,
Constance Alexander, and Timothy Frey; his 5 grandchildren, and 7
great grandchildren, and by his sister Joan Yeager of California.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Charles, Thomas, John,
Richard, Mary, Catherine, Florence, and Helen.
Friends will
be received on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 10-11AM at St.
Philip The Apostle Catholic Church, 2166 Millersville Pike,
Lancaster, PA 17603, with the Mass to follow at 11AM. In lieu of
