Peter L. Angelini

Peter L. Angelini, 87, of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Lancaster. Pete was married to Gilda Cianci Angelini for 65 years last May 5th. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Adrian Bartelamao and Frieda Stirneman Angelini.

US Army PFC Angelini served as an automatic rifleman with Co. G 22nd Infantry during WWII in Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe.  He earned the Combat Infantry Badge and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars.

Pete was the shop foreman at the Occupational Development Center in Lancaster for over 25 years. He previously was a housepainter and a cloth cutter for various fabric businesses in Lancaster. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and caning chairs, gardening, reading historic novels and his daily 4 mile walk. Pete was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife Gilda are his daughter Kathleen Krous (Robert), of Lancaster, grandchildren Jody Lehman (Emmett) and Callie Nixdorf (David), great grandchildren Zane and Greta, and his brother Renaldo Angelini of Lancaster. Pete was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph, Leo and Ceaser and sisters Ida, Berniece and Helen.

A Visitation will be held 10:30 to 11:30 AM Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 East King St., Lancaster, PA. Graveside Services and Interment will follow immediately at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery on New Holland Avenue, with The Rev. Daniel C. Mitzel officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard and Veterans 21 Salute Honor Guard. Please omit flowers.
