Sarah
J. (Hanley) Warfel, 91, of Lancaster, passed away, Sunday, March
28, 2010 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster,
she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Kirchner)
Hanley. Sarah was the wife of the late Chester Warfel who died in
June of 1990.
Sarah retried
from Hamilton Watch as an Assembly Line employee. She was a
Charter Member of St. Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church, and a
former member of the Guys and Dolls Club. Chet and Sarah were
members of Conestoga Country Club for 40 years. Sarah enjoyed
vacationing in Wildwood N.J.
Sarah is
survived by a son; Dr. John "Jack" Hanley husband of Mary Anne of
Lancaster. 4 grandchildren; Lynn Anne Palmer wife of Mark of
Pittsburgh, Leslie Anne Staskel wife of Tom of Lancaster, Mary
Anne Weber wife of Tom of Lancaster, and Matthew J. Hanley of
Lancaster. 8 great grandchildren; Ryan, Kelly, and Kevin Staskel.
Alexandra and Andrea Palmer. And Hope, Michael, and Carolyn Weber.
She was
preceded in death by a brother; James, and 5 sisters; Mary
Elizabeth, Anne, Jane, Helen, and Margaret.
A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at St.
Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church 2111 Millersville Pike,
Lancaster 17603 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark E. Weiss as Celebrant.
Family and friends will be received at the Church before the
service from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph
New Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of
flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Anne's
Retirement Community 3952 Columbia Ave. Columbia 17512.
