Patricia
A. (Pat) Walls, 65, of Lancaster, died at Hospice of Lancaster
County Essa Flory Center on Monday, March 15, 2010 after 11 month
struggle with cancer.
Pat was born
on April 1, 1944 in Blair County, the only child of the late
Robert W. and Gladys M. (McIntyre) Walls. She was a graduate of
Williamsburg High School and Saint Frances College. After working
for several years in the lab at Altoona Hospital, Pat left to earn
her M.S. degree in microbiology from Penn State in 1974. After
working one year as a microbiologist at J.C. Blair Hospital in
Huntingdon, Pa., she relocated to Lancaster, Pa. Pat retired from
Lancaster General Hospital in 2008, where she had worked for over
32 years as a microbiologist and as an instructor in the clinical
laboratory science program.
Pat was a
member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where, most
recently, she helped make crafts for the church bazaar. She
enjoyed reading, gardening, furniture refinishing, and
volunteering at Conestoga View and at Lancaster General Hospital.
A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 19, 2010 at St.
Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 501 E. Orange St. Lancaster,
PA.., at 11 a.m. Interment will be at a later date in
Williamsburg, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be
made to Farm Sanctuary Inc. 3100 Aikens Road, Watkins Glen, NY.
