M. "Lorrie" Vatter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great
grandmother, passed away Friday, October 1st, 2010 at her
residence; she was 78. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of
the late John and Edith (Fitzgerald) Groft. Lorrie was the wife of
Robert E. Vatter Sr. with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage
this past July 18th.
Lorrie was a homemaker, but was employed early in her life at
Hamilton Watch Co., Raub Supply, and was Supervisor at
Book-of-the-Month Club in Camp Hill. She loved to dance in all
forms and in her teenage years she was part of several dance
troupes that performed in local theatres and on stage at Rocky
Springs Park. Also in her early years, Lorrie was a member of
Sweet Adeline's singing group. Lorrie also enjoyed hosting dinner
parties and was famous for many delicious meals. Her
granddaughters lovingly referred to left overs they would take
home as take out from "Nan and Pap Mart." She was an avid
Cryptogram fan as well as a Bingo player. Lorrie was kidded about
being an "International Bingo Player."
Surviving in addition to her husband, Robert E. Vatter Sr., is a
son, Robert E. Vatter Jr. of Strasburg; 3 grandchildren; 3 great
grandchildren; a brother, and sister; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Lorrie was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah H. Vatter.; a
brother, and sister.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the
Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz
Pike, Lititz 17543 at 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received
at the Funeral Home before the service from 10 a.m.-11 a.m.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
