Hilda I. "Vimmie" Steward, 82, of Lancaster, passed away on
July 22, 2010 at home. She was born in Lancaster and was the
daughter of the late William and Edith K. (Weise) Gant.
Hilda is survived by her husband, John H. Steward, Jr. of
Lancaster of more than forty years.
She enjoyed cooking, watching soap operas, and spending time
with her family.
Hilda is survived by her four children, two sons, Samuel G.
husband of Louise, of Lancaster, Donald T., of Millersville, two
daughters, Alice Cooney, wife of Scott, of Lancaster, Edith
Butler, of Lancaster, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two
brothers, Kenneth and Harold Gant, both of Lancaster, two sisters,
Yvonne Alfred, of Texas, and Dolores Steward, of Lancaster. Hilda
was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Hudson and Bernice
Govan-King, and a brother, Henry Gant.
Funeral Services will take place on Monday July 26, 2010 from
the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc. 414 E. King St.
Lancaster, PA 17602 at 11am with The Rev. Howard B. Payne
officiating. A viewing will be held at Snyder's from 10-11am.
Interment will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. To send the
